Tokyo was the backdrop of a recent IESE Continuous Education event, held in collobaration with the Tokyo Leadership Forum on July 15. IESE Prof. Kimio Kase spoke on the topic, "Asian versus Western Management Thinking - Its Cultural-Bound Nature." In the session, Prof. Kase addressed cognition process differences between Asians and Westerners, based on an experiment conducted in different parts of the world by Kase and various colleagues. Results of the study form the basis of an upcoming book, to be published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2011. Participants in the session included IESE alumni based in Japan and other invited guests. The event was held in Merial Japan's conference room in Akasaka, Tokyo. Mr. Seizo Inabata, as well as Dr. Peter Baron and Dr. Michel Lachaussee, hosted the special session. Prof. Kase is a faculty member of IESE's Strategic Management Department. He earned his DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) at Manchester University and his MBA at IESE Business School.
