JMD Features Ethics Research Presented at IESE

Paper by Professors Melé and Sánchez-Runde addresses holistic management
September 23, 2011

The Journal of Management Development featured an article by IESE Professors Domènec Melé and Carlos Sánchez-Runde in a recent issue focusing on holistic management.

All the articles in the special issue were selected from among the more than 80 that were presented at the International Symposium on Ethics, Business and Society, organized by IESE Business School in May 2010.

The aim of the paper by Melé and Sánchez-Runde is to introduce the special issue and to point out how the current economic and social crises are linked with the loss of an integrative, holistic and humanistic approach to management and organizations. The paper, “Towards an Holistic Understanding of Management,” appears in JMD’s issue vol. 30, no. 6, 2011, pages 544-547.

The other articles in the issue were written by professors from business schools in Europe and the United States. They address key topics such as the meaningful work as a moral responsibility, approaches for delivering business curriculum and the use of “bonding value” within firms.
