Ireland's Road to Recovery. Prof. Antonio Argandoña Leads Session in Dublin

November 28, 2011

IESE alumni based in Ireland gathered for a special event focused on today's global economic challenges. They were joined by Prof. Antonio Argandoña, professor of economics, who outlined key learning points from the downturn.

Ireland has been improving its macroeconomic situation, as reflected by improved growth rates, the recent return to a positive current account blance and the successful implementation of measures to reduce the public deficit. But Prof. Argandoña urged companies to do their part in hastening recovery through innovation and collaboration with government and civil society. Ultimately, companies will provide the impetus for both economic and social recovery in Ireland, Prof. Argandoña writes in his blog entry reflecting on the event.

IESE graduates participating in the event reflected diverse companies, including Fleming Capital, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Telefonica and Gas Natural. The event was held at the Jameson Room.

Prof. Argandoña is holder of the "La Caixa" Chair of Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Governance, and has published widely on macroeconomics, monetary economics and corporate social responsibility.

IESE's Alumni Association organizes activities for graduates in key international cities around the world, with support from regional alumni chapters. The school's growing alumni community includes 34,000 professionals living and working in more than 100 countries.
