Biography Albert Fernández is associate professor in the Accounting and Control Department. His teaching, research and consulting work focus on the strategic implementation of management systems, including the specific areas of planning, information and follow-up, as well as control, evaluation and incentives. He also specializes in budgeting and cost systems. Prof. Fernández is internationally-recognized for his initiatives related to the Balanced Scorecard, a subject on which he has led numerous seminars around the world. His most recent research publications include "Toward an Improved Balanced Scorecard" (Harvard Deusto, Finanzas & Contabilidad, No. 46, March - April 2002), "How to Create and Utilize Strategic Maps" (Estrategia Financiera, No. 182, March 2002) and "The Implantation of BSC in the Foundation of Santafé de Bogotá" (Estrategia Financiera, No. 182, March 2002).
