Biography Eduardo Martínez Abascal is professor in the Financial Management Department, where he has taught since 1992. He holds a doctorate in economics and business from the Universitat de Barcelona and an MBA from IESE. He has also been a visiting scholar at the Sloan School of Management at the Massachussetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His teaching activities cover both corporate finance and portfolio management and capital markets. In recent years, he has taught classes in executive education programs in Barcelona, Madrid, Munich, Shanghai, Lagos, Nairobi, Cairo, São Paulo, Montevideo, Mexico, Bogota, and Washington D.C., among others. He is currently the academic director of IESE's Executive MBA program in Barcelona, the PADE (Program for Managing Directors) in Barcelona and the Director of Relations with Associated Business Schools. Prof. Martinez Abascal has held the following positions on the IESE Management Board: associate dean for the MBA Program, associate dean for Executive Education and associate dean of the school. He is a member of the advisory boards of several other business schools (in Nigeria, Kenya, Uruguay, Ecuador and Brazil). His consultancy specializes in capital markets and business valuation. He holds the position of director at Grupo Nicolás Correa and Transportes la Guipuzcoana, and also advises several other businesses. Prof. Martinez Abascal has published seven books, over 100 technical notes, 30 articles in specialized journals and over 50 in the daily financial press. For several years he was a regular contributor to Expansión. His most recent publications include the books Finanzas para Directivos (Finance for Executives), 2005, and Gestión de carteras de renta fija (Fixed-Income Portfolio Management), 2002.
