Biography Dr. Marc Sachon is associate professor in the department of Production, Technology and Operations Management. Professor Sachon holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management of Stanford University, USA, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) of IESE Business School, University of Navarra and is Diplom-Ingenieur of Aerospace-Technology of the University of Stuttgart, Germany. His main areas of interest are in process improvement, supply chain management and engineering risk analysis. Dr. Sachon is the academic co-director of IESE's "Advanced Management Program AMP" in Munich, directed at board members and company owners. He teaches courses on Operations Management, Operations Strategy and Analytical Tools in Operations Management in IESE's executive and MBA programs, both in English and in Spanish. Apart from IESE, Dr. Sachon, who is German, has taught at various other universities, including Stanford University, the Polytechnic University of Catalunya, Spain, as well as institutions in Latin America and China. His research areas include e-supply chain management, product development, project management and engineering risk analysis, primarily in the manufacturing and automotive sector. He has published both in academic journals (e.g., IEEE Transactions) and business journals (e.g., European Business Forum, EBF). He has contributed chapters to several books in the area of operations management and process improvement. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Sachon worked several years for IBM's German headquarters in Stuttgart-Vaihingen. As a consultant, Dr. Sachon has been involved in projects with companies such as Morgan Stanley, Hugo Boss Industries, United Airlines, Merck KG and the Bonneville Power Authority.
