Biography Steven Poelmans is academic director of the International Center of Work and Family, and associate professor in the Department of Managing People in Organizations. He teaches organizational behavior, managerial communication, and self-leadership in the MBA and international executive programs. His areas of research include work-family conflict, family-friendly human resource policies, and managerial stress, primarily from an international perspective. He is founding member of the European Academy of Management (EURAM), international affiliate of the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and member of the Academy of Management. He is also one of the coordinators of the second phase of the Collaborative International Study on Managerial Stress (CISMSII). The first phase resulted in publications in , Journal of Organizational Behavior, the Academy of Management Journal, and Personnel Psycology. He is editor of the book Work and Family. An International Research Perspective, (Lawrence Erlbaum Associates, 2005) and author of the book Tiempo de Calidad. Calidad de Vida (McGraw-Hill Interamericana, 2005) / Kwalitijd (Lannoo; Academic Services). He has also written several chapters for books, including Preventing Stress, Improving Productivity, (Routledge, 1999); Paradigmas de Liderazgo, (McGraw-Hill, 2002); Managing Work-Life Integration in Organizations: Future Directions for Research and Practice, (Lawrence Erlbaum, 2005). He is book review editor and guest editor for the International Journal of Cross-Cultural Management. Prof. Poelmans has carried out training, consulting and coaching for both profit (Abbott Labs, Bacardi, Henkel, Randstad, Caixa Cataluña, Sun Microsystems, Nestlé, Borealis, D.S.M. Spain, S.W.I.F.T., Roche Diagnostics and Nike) and not-for-profit organizations (Ghent Musea, Amnesty International, Peace Islands, the Catalonian Government, Barcelona Town Council).
