Biography Javier Gómez Biscarri is senior lecturer in IESE's Department of Managerial Decision Sciences. In 2001, Prof. Gómez Biscarri received the Hans B. Thorelli Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Theory of International Marketing for his article "The Role of the Internationalization Process in the Performance of Newly Internationalizing Firms," which was published in the Journal of International Marketing. He has also been awarded, at various times, the UCLA Dissertation Year Fellowship (2000-2001), the Anderson School Doctoral Program Research Paper Award (1998) and the Fundación Ramón Areces Scholarship for Graduate Studies Abroad (1996-1999). Prof. Gómez Biscarri's experience in academia is both broad and international. He has held teaching positions at, among others, the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA); an honorary visiting fellowship in the Department of Econometrics of the University of New South Wales, Sydney; and is currently also an assistant professor in the School of Economics at the University of Navarra. He is a member of the editorial board of The Latin American Journal of Economics and is a referee for the Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, the Journal of Development Economics, the Journal of International Money and Finance, Revista de Economía Aplicada, The Latin American Journal of Economics and the Spanish Economic Review. He has delivered presentations at numerous international conferences and has participated in the organization of several symposia, either as a member of the scientific committee or as event coordinator. He is also a member of the American Economic Association, the European Economic Association, the Econometric Society and the Royal Economic Society. Prof. Gómez Biscarri has authored and co-authored numerous articles in refereed journals. Recent examples include "Nonparametric Estimation of Convergence of Interest Rates: Effects on Bond Pricing," which appeared in the Spanish Economic Review (2005) and "Structural Changes in Volatility and Stock Market Development: Evidence for Spain," which was published in the Journal of Banking and Finance (2004). Many of his research projects have been awarded government or private funding.
