Biography Jorge Soley is professor in the Department of Financial Management. Among other subjects, he is an authority on the Basel II banking supervision principles, the credit evaluation of companies and compliance / regulatory activities among credit institutions. Prof. Soley earned his MBA from IESE Business School and also holds a law degree from the Universitat de Barcelona. He has extensive on-hands financial and management experience. For the past twenty years, he has served as CEO of the Bank of Europe specialized banking board of 'la Caixa'. In 2006, he took up the post of director in charge of norm compliance at 'la Caixa.' He is also president of Telefónica Factoring Spain as well as board member of Telefónica Factoring Brazil and Telefónica Factoring Mexico. Prof. Soley belongs to a number of professional organizations, including the Spanish Association of Leasing and Factoring, and previously served as chairman of Leaseurope. His most recent publications include the books Basilea II: Una forma de relación Banca-Empresa (Basel II: An Example of Bank-Company Relations), 2006, and El sistema financiero y su encuentro con la empresa (When the Financial System Meets the Company), 2001. He is also the author of several articles in specialized press. One such example is the article he published in February 2006 in Harvard-Deusto titled "La financiación especialzada en la empresa. Tipos de productos y generalidades" (Specialized Financing within the Firm: Product Types and General Aspects).
