Dr. Tàpies has taught at business schools in Europe and Latin America such as AESE in Portugal, IDE in Ecuador, PAD University of Piura in Peru, ISE in Brazil, IAE in Argentina, ESE in Chile, INALDE in Colombia and others. He served as formal member of the Academic Council of IPADE in Mexico and ESE in Santiago de Chile.

He has worked as a consultant for various companies, among them various family-owned, as well as for Spanish and international banks. He serves as independent director in several family-owned businesses.

He is a member of the board the International Family Enterprise Research Academy (IFERA), and the Advisory Board of the International Center for Financial Research of IESE. Furthermore, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Association of Consultants and Academics of Family Business.

Prof. Tàpies has published numerous articles and books and chapters in books on family business, as well as family business articles in newspapers and magazines.
