About IESE

A Brief History of IESE: Founded in 1958, IESE established Europe’s first 2-year MBA program, with the support of Harvard Business School, in 1964, began offering the world’s premier bilingual MBA program in 1980, and pioneered the concept of joint-venture executive education in 1994. In 2000, IESE launched its Global Executive MBA featuring modular residential sessions in Barcelona, Silicon Valley and Shanghai and state-of-the-art distance learning technology.

Research Centers and Chairs: IESE Business School’s research centers and chairs serve as important means, within the Research Division, for generating and supporting the research activities of IESE faculty. Examples include:

Associated Business Schools: IESE’s overseas network now includes 14 schools on four continents. In each case, IESE has worked with local academics and business leaders in order to establish the new schools, and many times in cooperation with other schools such as Harvard Business School.

Academic Alliances: IESE maintains exchange agreements with many of the world’s leading business schools. Each year, around 60 IESE MBA students are selected on a competitive basis to spend the first semester of the second year at one of the schools listed below. These schools, in turn, send an equal number to IESE.
