The colloquium on the globalization of business education, organized by IESE and Harvard Prof. Pankaj Ghemawat, is held this week at IESE's Barcelona campus. All 38 participants are Deans and professors from business schools around the world.
Opening the event was Don Lessard of MIT Sloan School of Management. During his presentation, "Perspectives on the Globalization of Business Education", he recalled that the objective of business schools is to prepare students for business in the global world however, he says, "we are still very far from that objective" and most schools remain based on the North American model.
A joint presentation by Jordan Siegel of Harvard Business School and IESE Prof. Ghemawat, "Evolving Content of MBA Curricula", reviewed the present strategies of globalization within schools, such as diversity of faculty and students, and international alliances.
The colloquium aims to look at increasing cross-border integration in business schools, and its business implications. Debate will center around such topics as Perspectives on the Globalization of Business Education, company perspectives on career paths, global innovations from executive education programs and improving the Links between the Globalization of Business Education and Research on Global Business.
