IESE's Alumni Association has announced the recipients of the 2007 Research Excellence Awards. This year's winners are Professors África Ariño, Tony Dávila, Johanna Mair and Christian Seelos.
One of the objectives of the IESE Alumni Association is to support the development of general management research and excellence in teaching at IESE. The Alumni Association created the Research Excellence Awards, which are presented to IESE faculty members, in 2002. Every year, three prizes are awarded, each with a value of ¿10,000.
The jury is comprised of a panel of professors and representatives of the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association: Antonio González-Adalid (President of the Alumni Association) Aurora Catá, Alejandro Beltrán, Alois Linder, Javier Robles, Prof. Rafael Andreu and Prof. Josep Valor. Winners were selected based on the relevance of his or her work in the international business world.
Best academic article published in a top international journal
The prize is awarded to professor Africa Ariño for her article published in the Strategic Management Journal in 2007, in collaboration with Prof. Jeffrey J. Reuer, titled: "Strategic Alliance Contracts: Dimensions and Determinants of Contractual Complexity."
Best book published in terms of international and business impact
The jury awarded the prize to Professor Tony Dávila for the book series "The Creative Enterprise. Managing Innovative Organizations and People," published in collaboration with Professors Marc J. Epstein and Robert Sheldon.
Development of a new course or program teaching material
Professor Johanna Mair and Professor Christian Seelos were awarded a prize for the course they developed, "Entrepreneurial Strategies for Social Impact."
The awards will be presented at the next IESE Alumni Association Executive Committee Meeting, which will take place in February 2008.
