IESE's MBA ranked 1st in the World by The Economist
One of the reasons is the quality of its career placement
October 15, 2009

 Interview at Economist.com

IESE earned the top spot, ranking 1st in the world in this year's The Economist MBA ranking. This is the third time the school has achieved the highest position in the publication's ranking, previously published under the Economist Intelligence Unit brand. Other schools in the top five spots are; IMD, Berkeley, Chicago and Harvard in second, third, fourth and fifth position respectively.

According to The Economist, one of the main reasons explaining IESE's success is the quality of its career placement, with 98 percent of its graduates finding jobs within three months after graduation. The results of the ranking are based on three sets of data; information given by a survey of more than 19.000 students and alumni of MBA programs worldwide, data provided by the different schools and past results in previous editions of the ranking. The survey takes into account four factors deemed as the most important for students when embarking on an MBA: the opening up of new career opportunities; personal development and educational experience; salary increase; and the potential to network.

In 1964, the school established Europe's first two-year MBA program, with the guidance and support of the Harvard-IESE Advisory Committee. In 1980, IESE's MBA became the first bilingual (English/Spanish) program in the world. Today over 80 percent of the student body is international.
