In line with IESE Business School's strong focus on rigorous and relevant research, the Alumni Association will recognize five IESE professors for their contributions to the field of management this week.
The faculty members are recipients of the IESE Research Excellence Awards, which are presented for achievements in three distinct areas: best academic article in a leading international journal, best book with global impact and best course or teaching material with social relevance.
Prof. Pinar Ozcan will be honored for best academic article for her article "Origin Alliance Portfolios: Entrepreneurs Network Strategies and Firm Performance," written in collaboration with Kathleen M. Eisenhardt of Stanford University, and published in the Academy of Management Journal.
Professors Beatriz Muñoz-Seca and Josep Riverola will be recognized for their book The New Operational Culture. The Case of the Theatre Industry, published by Palgrave Macmillan.
Finally, Professors Joan de Dou and Alberto Ribera will be awarded for the MBA course "Personality and Leadership" and the Global Executive MBA course, "Managing Oneself."
The awards presentation will take place Tuesday, Feb. 9 during the annual Executive Committee meeting of the IESE Alumni Association. The awards jury includes professors and representatives of the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association: Alejandro Beltrán, Antoni Esteve, Professors Fernando Peñalva and Julián Villanueva and Antonio González-Adalid, president of the Alumni Association.
One of the aims of the IESE Alumni Association is to support IESE by encouraging the development of general management research and teaching. The IESE Alumni Association created the Research Excellence Awards for IESE professors in 2002. Each year, three prizes are awarded with a value of €10,000 each.
