Pankaj Ghemawat
Academic Director

Professor of General Management, IESE

Pankaj Ghemawat joined IESE’s Strategic Management department in 2006 after a long tenure at Harvard Business School, where in 1991 he was appointed the youngest full professor in the school’s history. His research focuses on the dynamics of globalization, generic strategies for international firms and foundational issues in business strategy, particularly competitive dynamics, business scope and complexity.

In 2008, Prof. Ghemawat became the first professor of a European business school to receive the Irwin Outstanding Educator Award, presented by the Academy of Management.

He has authored numerous books and articles, including “Regional Strategies for Global Leadership,” which received the McKinsey Award for the best article published in Harvard Business Review in 2005. His most recent book, Redefining Global Strategy, was published in 2007 to great critical acclaim.

Fariborz Ghadar

A leading authority in international strategic management, Fariborz Ghadar serves as the chair and director of the Center for Global Business Studies at Pennsylvania State University. Prior to joining Penn State, Prof. Ghadar served as the chairman of the International Business Department at George Washington University Graduate School of Business and Public Management.

Prof. Ghadar has enjoyed a long and varied career, having served as a vice minister in Iran during the Shah’s regime, an investment banker at the International Finance Corporation at the World Bank group and a research coordinator of the Harvard Multinational Enterprise Project. He has consulted for a number of multinational corporations, governments and government agencies, and has authored numerous books and academic
publications.

Thomas M. Hout
Associate Professor, The University of Hong Kong’s School of Business
MBA, Stanford University

Thomas Hout joined The University of Hong Kong’s School of Business in 2002 after nearly thirty years at the Boston Consulting Group, where he specialized in strategy development and operations design. Currently a retired full-time partner, he continues to serve as a senior advisor.

Prof. Hout's research interests lie at the interface between strategy and operations, and global manufacturing competitiveness. He has co-authored two books, Japanese Industrial Policy and Competing Against Time: How Time-Based Competition Is Reshaping Global Markets, published in 12 languages. His articles have appeared in leading international publications, including Harvard Business Review, New York Times, Wall Street
Journal and Boston Globe.

Mike Rosenberg
Professor of Strategic Management, IESE Business School
MBA, IESE Business School

Mike Rosenberg teaches long-term strategy, scenario planning and business problem analysis. Prior to joining IESE, he was a management consultant specializing in the international automotive industry for Heidrick & Struggles, A.T. Kearney and Arthur D. Little.

Prof. Rosenberg's research focuses on the effects of long-term ethnological and socioeconomic trends on the business climate. He is particularly interested in the potential of alternative energy sources to change the competitive dynamics of a number of industries, particularly the automotive sector.
