Mecalux is a company specialized in the design, manufacture and installation of a broad range of storage products, ranging from simple shelving to sophisticated, robotized warehouses. The company was incorporated in 1966 by José Luis Carrillo, who is its current president, and its corporate headquarters are located at L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona).
At present, Mecalux is market leader in the design, engineering and installation of storage equipment and systems. It is known for its high technological standards and most of its technology is developed in in-house laboratories; the company is currently spearheading the research and application of storage innovations and, each year, it invests more than 2.5% of its net sales in R&D. It was awarded the ISO 9001 quality certificate in 1994, and has recently obtained the ISO 14001 quality certification in environmental management for its production centers in Spain.
In 2000, Mecalux operates six production plants: three in Barcelona, one in France, another in Argentina and the latest opened in 1998 in Tijuana (Mexico). Their combined production capacity stands at 1,000 tons per day. The company exports more than 50% of its output and is present on all five continents through company-operated branches and distributors, serving all of the world's major markets.
