Competencies in Private Equity

This study looks to further the understanding of the practices that are being utilized in the private equity industry and with prior research should provide clear conclusions on ways firms in the PE industry can continue to improve their hiring practices so as to ensure the ideal mix of employees that can assist in providing differential value. It will analyze which individual competencies are most important along different stages of the value creation chain.


Managing European High-Growth Technology Firms

In this ongoing research project we are working closely with a group of 80-90 CEOs of European high-growth technology firms to discuss in-depth their current challenges, strategies, etc.

Furthermore, we conducted with them a survey regarding their performance, compensation, technology management practices, internationalization and other features relevant to the firm. These results have been presented in three different events.


Small Firm Management in Downturn/Crises

Based on research results of young high-tech firms that have experienced “near-death experiences” or even failure. We are analyzing the triggers to such crises as well as the subsequent processes taking place which lead firms to verge of bankruptcy. Beyond, we are looking at appropriate coping mechanisms for these firms to turn the companies around and bring them back onto a growth path.


External funds for early stages projects: financial restrictions, market failures and the role of the business angels

This study aimed to assess the obstacles and main problems entrepreneurs have to face while raising funds, as well as analyzed the role that private equity and business angels would play, as a financing alternative.


From the Family Business to the Family Office: Looking at the Development and Management of the Family’s Other Investments, Ventures and Services

The execution of this research project, made in collaboration with University of North Carolina (Greensboro) and Genspring, is to launched a design of a survey questionnaire & a protocol interview.


Professional Service Firms, ISS Study

The objective of this study is to analyze different topics around the company ISS, such as growth policies, local-global dynamic, transmission of values and employee training methods. The study will focus on the Spanish subsidiary, which in few years has placed fifth in a corporation with more that 400.000 employees.
