Biography

Jan Eeckhout is ICREA research professor at UPF, Barcelona. He has teaching and research interests in applied economic theory, with a special emphasis on the theory of matching and sorting. His models develop tools and testable hypotheses for several market applications both in micro and macroeconomics. He has studied labor markets, organizational design, knowledge spillovers, microfinance and inequality. His work has been published in American Economic Review, Econometrica, Review of Economic Studies and Journal of Economic Theory. Eeckhout’s research has been supported by several government grants, including funding from the NSF and the ERC.

Before joining ICREA, Jan Eeckhout was Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was for 9 years. He has also taught for one year at NYU Stern and visited MIT. He is currently on the editorial board of the International Economic Review.
