Biography

Mireia Giné is Director of International Initiatives at Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS), a research and data center at The Wharton School. Prior to joining WRDS she was a visiting scholar at MIT and at University of Pennsylvania and a lecturer at Universidad de Barcelona, Spain.
Mireia's research interests are on corporate finance and regulation. Her research focuses on a number of corporate governance issues, with particular emphasis on shareholder activism, the role of boards of directors as well as the impact of financial regulation. Her most current work analyzes the effects of governance provisions on firm value and managerial decisions such as mergers and acquisitions. As well, she is interested on the impact of regulation, in particular the effect of the "Say on Pay" Bill on executive compensation practices in the US.
Mireia holds a Ph.D. from the Universidad de Barcelona, a Master in Economics and B.A in Economics from Pompeu Fabra University, Spain. She completed the last years of her PhD visiting the University of Pennsylvania and MIT.
