Biography

Francisco Ruiz-Aliseda is an assistant professor of economics and business at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). He received a PhD in Managerial Economics and Strategy from the Kellogg School of Management in 2004, and spent two years as a post-doctoral fellow at INSEAD before joining UPF.

Francisco’s research concentrates on the fields of industrial organization, economics of innovation and business strategy. In particular, he is interested in understanding the nature and extent of first mover advantages that arise when entering new markets or developing new technologies. Recently, his interest in high-tech industries with fast technological pace has led him to focus on the properties of competitive interaction in platform industries. Francisco has presented his research in some of the most prestigious conferences on economics and strategy, and he has been awarded with diverse prizes.
