Jordi Canals is the Dean of IESE Business School and Professor of Economics and General Management. From 1992 to 2001, he served as Associate Dean of IESE. Dr. Canals is a recognized scholar in the areas of corporate strategy, corporate governance, globalization and banking, and the author of numerous books and articles, including "En busca del equilibrio. Consejos de administración y alta dirección en el gobierno de la empresa" (Pearson/Prentice Hall, 2008), "Managing Corporate Growth" (Oxford University Press, 2000), "Universal Banking: Theoretical Perspectives and International Comparisons" (Oxford University Press, 1997), "La internacionalización de la empresa" (McGraw-Hill, 1994) and "Competitive Strategies in European Banking" (Oxford University Press, 1993).
Dean Canals has served as Guest Scholar at the International Monetary Fund, Visiting Scholar at the World Bank, Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Harvard Business School and Guest Scholar at the Brookings Institution. He earned his PhD in Economics from the University of Barcelona. He is a board member of GMAC and the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management. He is a founding member of the European Shadow Financial Regulatory Committee, Europe's leading independent oversight group on European banking and financial affairs. He is also a member of a new Corporate Governance Commission set up by the Spanish Government in July 2002.
