Developing Leadership Competencies

Talent Development: The Key to Competitive Advantage - Barcelona, September 16-19, 2008

"This is a first class program, thanks to the faculty and the high quality it provided. The program provided me with a more detailed insight into and understanding of my own strengths and areas for improvement and how to develop these. In my capacity of head of HR, I am sure that my focus on the development of the leadership competencies of our managers and our potential candidates has been intensified."
-
Tove Elisabeth Nielsen, Senior Vice President, Head of Corporate Image & HR, J. Lauritzen A/S

Successful companies now realize that the competencies of their people, and especially managers, are their most important source of competitive advantage. To become a true asset, however, talent management requires a deep understanding of leadership competencies and strategies to monitor and develop them.

Developing Leadership Competencies is a “safe” opportunity to assess one’s leadership competencies outside the corporate environment. Before the program starts, participants carry out self-assessment, including a 360º feedback evaluation. During the course, managers receive feedback on their leadership competencies and on their own leadership style. Participants are guided in designing a practical plan for personal development and for achieving the strategic goals of the company through others.

Managers are valued not only for their own personal competencies, but also for their ability to coach others in the organization. The DLC program is specifically designed to help managers meet this challenge. The program includes sessions on coaching and offers practical guidelines on how to use competencies as a tool for cultural change.
