New York
September 22 - 25, 2008
Senior managers need to know what the world’s business leaders and thinkers are saying about the present economic situation and the global business outlook. The Inside New York program offers business executives four days in New York City discussing critical strategic issues with a team of IESE professors and listening to such speakers as Tony Blair, Jack Welch, Michael Porter and Muhammad Yanus, and networking opportunities with peer executives from around the globe.
Inside New York is a challenging high-impact program that will stimulate your thinking and change the strategic outlook of your company. The IESE team will be drawn from a list of world class faculty, including professors Pedro Videla, Johanna Mair, Paddy Miller and Erich Joachimsthaler. Topics of discussion will include understanding the current economic situation, the impact of China and India on global strategy, and the financial crisis and how it is likely to develop. The in-depth analysis of key strategic issues will serve to orient participants to central issues and debates in preparation for the World Business Forum (WBF) part of the program.
Inside New York will take an active part in the WBF, where participants will hear speakers such as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, retired CEO and Chairman of General Electric Jack Welch, Harvard Business School professor Michael Porter, and Nobel Prize recipient and founder of Grameen Bank Muhammad Yunus. General topics covered by the speakers will include the challenge of change; leading successful organizations; and innovation, vision and growth. Inside New York participants will have a private lunch with Professor Michael Porter following his keynote address on strategy, where he will handle questions from the group. In addition, during a closed-door session with a member of the IESE team, each WBF speaker will answer questions from Inside New York program participants. The session will be recorded and distributed to participants.
Following the WBF portion of the program, participants will be debriefed by the IESE team. Participants will have the opportunity to develop a list of priorities and actions based on what they have learned throughout the program. An optional feature of this last day will be an afternoon with Prof. Erich Joachimsthaler, visiting and discussing several leading edge companies in NYC.
