Rationale
The IESE Symposia on Ethics, Business and Society are intended to promote interdisciplinary discussion on some of the most vital ethical issues facing the international business community today.
Held biannually, they bring together leading academics representing a variety of disciplines and senior business executives to exchange ideas and experiences, reflect on current ethical challenges, and give impetus to the deeper integration of ethical norms with economic and business theory and practice.
Corporations are powerful institutions whose activities, for better or worse, have a significant impact on individuals, whole communities and society at large. Their power is such that many feel they must be more accountable for their business policies and practices, for the good of both companies and society.
Recent scandals in accounting and auditing, and increasing interest in corporate accountability for social and environmental impact have given rise to encouraging new studies and discussions on how companies can maintain high legal, social and ethical standards in the areas of accounting and auditing.
This symposium will focus on the range of issues related to corporate accountability, and address this vital topic from a variety of academic and professional perspectives and business theory and practice.
