CIIL Logistics Think Tank

What is it?

The CIIL Logistics Think Tank was created in 2002. It articulates the desire of the International Center for Logistics Research (CIIL) to create a place for senior logistics executives and experts to meet and exchange ideas.

The CIIL Logistics Think Tank is made up of a small group of senior logistics executives who meet regularly, at the invitation of Professors Federico Sabrià and Marc Sachon of the Production, Technology and Operations Management Department at IESE Business School, to explore subjects of interest. These gatherings are financially supported by CIIL, making available the necessary facilities .

Aims

- Share experiences and views on common issues in the logistics area

- Identify major concerns and the solutions adopted in different industries

- Discuss future trends affecting the logistics industry

- Present details of participants' ideas or plans (optional, for members who so wish)

In turn, the dynamic of the Logistics Think Tank helps CIIL gain a closer understanding of the main concerns of the logistics profession, and so open new lines of research.

Activities

The CIIL Logistics Think Tank organizes a series of meetings every two months among top managers of leading Spanish companies to share views on management practices, the means of detecting and tackling the most common problems, and industry concerns and future trends.

CIIL Logistics Think Tank meetings are free for invited participants and take place at IESE Business School's campuses in Barcelona and Madrid.  Each meeting addresses a specific subject area. During the meetings brief presentations on the chosen subject are given by selected participants, with advance notice. Each presentation is complemented by opportunities for exchange of experiences among members of the audience, moderated by representatives of CIIL. The meetings are rounded off by a dinner with participants and organizers.

The conclusions of these gatherings are published on the intranet and may serve as a basis for future publications or prompt new research exploring areas of interest to CIIL and the participating companies.
