ICWF - International Center for Work and Family
We help organizations create a family-responsible environment

Projects

Two central projects are being focused upon, following their corresponding lines of research. The lines of research currently being developed are:

Work-family conflict and stress in dual-career families

Dual-careers in Spain (ECADUES).
The “Estudio de Carreras Duales en España” (ECADUES) is a study of dual-income and dual-career couples in Spain. In the first phase we studied problems experienced by dual-career couples in Catalonia, and more specifically in five cities: Barcelona, Tarragona, Girona, Lérida and Manresa. This study consisted of interviews and a regional survey in close collaboration with the Generalitat de Catalunya.

Selection processes in Spain: Are women discriminated against?
This study is focused on the influence of work/family issues in recruitment decisions among Spanish human resource departments, in collaboration with ADECCO.

Ask the children
This is a study focused on the influence of parents' work-family conflict on the well-being and school performance of their children, funded by Institut Català de la Dona, Generalitat de Catalunya.

CISMS II Project
International project focusing on work and family issues in 25 countries around the globe. This study aims to develop an insight into cross-cultural differences in the experience of work-family conflict, which can be helpful in managing the integration and adaptation process of expatriates.

3535 Project
Another international large-scale cross-cultural study, focused on work-family conflict.

Family-responsible company policies and business culture

IESE Family-Responsible Company Index (IFREI)

Following an initial study carried out in 1999 in Spain, this study was repeated in 2002, 2003 and 2004 in order to continue examining the best company practices as a critical source of information for practice and teaching.
In the future we will annually repeat the IFREI study in Spain to study evolutions in the market. Moreover, our ambition is to expand the IFREI study internationally. The first activity consists of the organization of a European company survey.
