The International Center of Work and Family's mission is to help organizations create a family-responsible environment, which we believe is essential for the well-being of societies, organizations, and individuals alike.
Objectives
The Center has a dual agenda:
- To improve the bottom-line and competitiveness of firms by reinforcing a commitment to individuals in the organization
- To improve working conditions and career tracks of individuals in organizations, who we believe are deserving of balanced and quality professional and family lives.
International scope
The research center was created as an initiative with an international scope. Our focus is on Europe, but due to our involvement in several international research projects, our contacts with and interest from our business school network in Latin America, and our partnerships with business schools in the USA and Australia, our scope is international.
Our goal is to have the Advisory Board, as well as the corporate sponsors reflect this international dimension. This also means that the scope of the research projects transcends national borders.
Multidisciplinary approach
Given the nature of the phenomena and the research focus on professionals who balance work and family, the International Center of Work and Family requires a multidisciplinary approach. We design research on the basis of several academic disciplines - such as psychology, sociology, law, management, ethics - involving academics, managers and government representatives.
