These courses and seminars are offered in accordance with the students' areas of academic interest and specialization. In addition, candidates take a reading seminar in their chosen fields under the supervision of their Special Field Advisors.
Research seminars are held every two weeks. They take place in the afternoon of a "reading day" and are led by faculty from IESE and other business schools.
Upon the completion of the core and advanced courses and seminar - by the end of the second year - students are required to pass a comprehensive exam. The exam tests the learning of the student during the first two years of the program. The exam has two parts one that tests on the knowledge of core material and a second part that tests knolwedge in their field of specialization.
Having completed all course work and passed the field examination, students draft and submit a thesis proposal. Once approved, students proceed to research, write and ultimately defend their theses.
