Finaves, the center established by Prof. Pedro Nueno to promote and support IESE alumni's business initiatives, celebrates its 10th anniversary today. In that time, it has helped to set up 26 companies with more than 1,000 jobs created and allowed 40 alumni to turn their projects into reality. Finaves makes capital investments during the development phase of projects initiated by IESE alumni.
During the past 10 years, Finaves has established four seed capital societies, known as Finaves funds, that have invested around €9 million in the businesses set up by these 40 alumni. These companies have a turnover of some €60 million. Finaves has helped to establish companies around the world -in Spain, the United States, France, Germany and Chile- led by alumni from the five continents.
Those contributing to the funds include professors and alumni, as well as private, institutional and government investors. The Finaves funds are managed by a group of IESE experts who specialize in risk capital.
To mark the 10th anniversary, IESE Dean Jordi Canals will open the celebrations on the Campus Nord which will be attended by three people who embody the virtues of a good entrepreneur: Maria del Pino Velázquez (MBA '91), founder and general manager of Unísono; Dídac Lee (PDG '08), chief executive of Inspirit; and Gonzalo Rodríguez-Fraile, founder and chairman of PRS Investment Advisory. The session will be moderated by Prof. Alberto Fernández, the head of Finaves. Prof. Nueno will then review the fund's ten-year history.
