Launching a new company has become increasingly challenging, given shifts in the global economy and the ever more competitive business environment. In a special session with IESE alumni in Portugal, Prof. Alberto Fernandez, director of IESE's seed capital fund FINAVES, provided insights on the latest trends in new business creation and financing.
Joining Prof. Fernandez in a panel discussion were Elizabeth Rothfield, member of the executive committee and owner/partner of Explorer Investments; Nuno Miranda, vice-CEO of Ask; António Murta, entrepreneur and founder of Enabler and Joaquim Paiva Chaves, entrepreneur and owner/founder of Travel Store and Kanguru.
Delivering welcoming remarks was José Gabriel Chimeno, president of IESE's Alumni Chapter in Portugal. Nuno Saraiva de Ponte, vice president of the chapter, moderated the panel discussion at the event, which was attended by more than 100 alumni and friends.
FINAVES is a fund that provides financing for new business ventures led by IESE alumni. The initiative is an extension of the school's focus on nurturing entrepreneurial knowledge and skills among students.
