Careers in Asia, Banking and TMT Draw IESE Talent to London

MBAs explore job opportunities at London career events

From October 31 to November 2, more than 100 IESE MBA students were in London to explore career opportunities and network with potential employers for jobs at the Asia Career Fair, as well as in the banking, marketing and TMT sectors through three other recruiting events: the London Banking Tour, the Marketing Trek and the TMT (Technology, Media and Telecommunications) Trek.

Held at LBS on November 2, the first ever Asia Career Fair put MBAs from LBS, HEC, RSM, IESE and IMD in touch with top employers in Asia. In the same spirit as the recent regionally focused Latin American Career Fair held at IESE, the day included company presentations, interviews, a career fair and networking opportunities between students and companies. Johnson & Johnson, Credit Suisse, Bloomberg, Accenture, Shell, UK Trade & Investment and DSM were among the 15 participating companies exploring the MBA talent pool for positions in Asia.

This is the third event in the International Career Fair series which, kicking off this academic year is held in different locations worldwide and with the participation of Europe’s best business schools. The series looks to respond to the growing needs of both MBA students – who are more keen than ever to build careers in markets across the world – and international recruiters, who often find they have limited access to top talent ready for global, cross cultural management jobs. In this case, London serves as the hub for multinationals operating in Asia and local firms interested in recruiting global business school talent from Europe.

The TMT Trek, the Marketing Trek and the London Banking Tour took place on October 31 and November 1. These IESE-organized events are designed to bring students directly to potential employers, allowing them to gain insights on each company and network with recruiters. Google, Infosys, NBC Universal, BT, MadBid and Fremantle Media were among the companies that participated in the TMT Trek.

Meanwhile, more than 70 MBAs participated in the London Banking Tour. With Citi, Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, Barclays, Bank of America and Nomura presenting at the event, students gained a first-hand look at the industry and employment prospects as well as taking advantage of the unique opportunity to network with potential recruiters.
