IESE Trains Vueling Pilots in Pioneer Program
First Crew Resource Management Program Begins
IESE and Vueling have joined forces to create the first Crew Management Program, to be launched this week at IESE’s Barcelona campus.
With 60 Vueling pilots participating, the course "Taking Flight Deck Management to New Heights" focuses on training participants in managing people, technology and information to maximize the effectiveness of decision-making as well as flight security and efficiency. During the course, Vueling’s active-duty pilots will acquire new strategies and gain insights into areas such as teamwork, communication, leadership, operations and decision-making.
Vueling’s crews, who routinely prioritize flight and passenger security, yet at the same time strive to achieve efficient operating costs, are the first in their industry to receive such training. The program also covers customer service, which IESE believes to improve as a knock-on effect of improvements in teamwork.
The joint program falls within the airline’s overall efforts to achieve higher standards of global safety management. In so doing, Vueling has been, since July 2012, one of the benchmark airlines recognized and regulated by the IATA’s (International Air Transport Association) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA).
