In August 2016, Prof. Jordi Canals will step down as dean of IESE, after 15 years of what Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero, president of the University of Navarra, describes as “leadership and service.”

In this interview, we look back on the milestones of his tenure and the evolution of IESE during this time.

Canals’ deanship has been characterized by his belief that boards, CEOs and senior decision makers have a duty to build businesses with integrity and a sense of service to society.

This vision has undergirded IESE’s evolution over the last 15 years. Together with a commitment to internationalization, with the opening of new campuses, strategic international alliances with world-class business schools – such as Harvard Business School – and expansion into new geographies. Canals discusses this, the digital revolution and the future of IESE in the context of the school’s mission and values.
