  the total number of expatriates for the 18 companies was aproximately 200.
  Each company sends a minimum of three and a maximum of 40 people abroad per year.

Study Methodology

Two questionnaires were drawn up for the study. The first of these was aimed at companies with a presence in several continents and a significant number of expatriates and repatriated staff among thei employees. The questionnaires were completed during in-depth interviews with HR Directors. The second questionnaire was aimed at expatriated employees in order to collect the opinions and experiences of people directly involved. A total of 18 companies and 74 executives took part.

Sample of Expatriates and Repatriates

The average profile of the 74 expatriates and repatriates surveyed is as follows:
- Male
- Age: 30 to 35
- Married
- With children
- College graduate 
- No previous international experience
- Destination: Europe
- Has worked two to five years in his current location
- Job title: managerial or senior technical

Destination Countries

- Europe:
  France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Portugal, 
  United Kingdom, Poland, Netherlands, Hungary.

- Africa:
  Morocco, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt.

- North America:
  United States and Canada.

- Latin America:
  Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, 
  Dominican Republic , Venezuela, Uruguay.

- Asia - Pacific:
  Australia.
