Telecommunications, Banking, Insurance, and Health, the Sectors that Best Reconcile Work and Family

Each activity sector requires different kinds of reconciliation policies. This is one of the conclusions of the latest IFREI report presented at the 3rd Forum on Family-Responsible Companies, held on July 11 this year at IESE's Madrid campus.
The study, which will continue to examine the most appropiate measures for each sector, reveals that Spanish companies in the telecommunications, banking, insurance, and health care sectors have the most measures for reconciling work and family, while those related to manufacturing activities present shortcomings in this area.

The ICWF Expands its Studies to Include New Countries

In this past year, the IFREI study (IESE Family-Responsible Employer Index) has been expanded to different countries in Latin America (Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Uruguay, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Peru) as well as Asia (Macao, the Philippines), and Africa (Kenya, Nigeria). Likewise, the second edition of the CISMS II (Collaborative International Study of Managerial Stress) now has participants from Israel, Taiwan, the Ukraine, the United States, Canada, Australia, India, Turkey, Indonesia, and Spain.
This is good news, but the Center wants to keep growing in order to get a more accurate X-ray of the state of work-family reconciliation all over the world. Help us in our research!

At the first workshop, the ICWF presented a prospective analysis on the status of work-family reconciliation among European executives. In exchange, the company requires high productivity per hour worked and offers employees the option of occasionally working from a distance.

Why Become a Family-Responsible Employer?

Chinchilla, N. Torres, E.
This document explores the resaons why companies should strive to be family-responsible. To illustrate it, three models of relationship between people and organizations are outlined. In the mechanistic model, work-family reconciliation policies are adopted as a marketing strategy. In the psycho-social model, companies implement them to attract and retain talent. Finally, in the anthropological-humanistic model, companies make a commitment to a family-responsible culture, and as a result, treat their employees like human beings in all their dimensions.
