1. Welcome: the 14th issue

Welcome to IESE and to the library (and welcome back to returning students, professors, alumni and staff). We hope you have had an enjoyable summer.

The purpose of our 14th Newsletter is to give you a flavour of the huge range of business and management information available through the IESE library, and to introduce you to some of our services. New students are our obvious target, but existing users should read on too; we have some new electronic products to tell you about and include our regular link to new acquisitions.

Before you start reading, why not add the library website to your favorites? It is the main source of information about our services and a portal to our catalog, electronic resources and Virtual Desk.

3. New products: ISI Emerging Markets and Global Financial Data

ISI Emerging Markets

The library has recently subscribed to ISI Emerging Markets, a database that delivers hard-to-find information on more than 60 emerging markets from the Czech Republic to Laos. It aggregates and produces unique content including full-text news articles, financial statements, company information, industry analyses, equity quotes, macroeconomic statistics, and market-specific information, which are derived directly from more than 9000 local and global publications.

How to access:

ISI Emerging Markets is available from Library > E-Resources > By alphabetical order. It is accessible from computers on campus and off campus through the library’s proxy server.

Coming soon: Global Financial Data

Very shortly we will be subscribing to Global Financial Data. This service will provide us with access to international financial and economic statistics dating back centuries, and is therefore unlike any other resource to which we currently subscribe.

Coverage and features will include:

• Historical stock market, financial and economic data from original sources, including US stock markets from 1800, non-US markets from 1690, exchange rates from 1590, interest rates from 1700 and total returns from 1700.
• Over 7,200 data series
• Data from more than 200 countries
• Data in ASCII or Excel format

How to access:

This resource will be available via our E-Resources pages from any computer on campus. We will advertise the launch of this service via e-mail and on the library website.
