1. Welcome: the 22nd issue

A lot has been written about the real estate market over the past few years. We mustn’t forget that the structures built by the real estate industry comprise over a third of the world’s tangible wealth and are responsible for over a third of the world’s energy consumption.

As a whole, the industry has performed better over the past few years than almost any other sector of the economy. Although economists have been warning of a potential housing market slump for many years, prices have continued to rise. The boom may be coming to an end now, but it's still possible to make good business as it slows down. Our aim is to help you find real estate information quickly by providing you with a wide range of useful resources.

Most online resources listed are only available to the IESE community, but there are also quite a few free resources available on the web. We hope we can help you explore this exciting field!

3. New e-journals research tool: SFX

The library has implemented SFX, a resource-linking technology that allows users of research databases to link directly from an article citation or abstract in an external database to the full-text of an article (if available) or to local holdings in the IESE Library catalog or other relevant resources.

SFX simplifies electronic research by ensuring easy access to materials from heterogeneous sources. It eliminates the extra step of accessing and re-executing searches in different databases to retrieve relevant text and information.

Most useful SFX services available:

• Article Linker: can be used when you know a specific article or journal citation and want to link to the full text. If a full text of an article is not available electronically, you can seamlessly check the library catalog for print holdings or make a document delivery or interlibrary loan request.

• AZ List of e-journals: useful for locating any of the journals of the IESE Library collection by title, subject or publisher.

• SFX button: if you are searching in a database and you find a citation only for an article you need (ISI WoK, Econlit, BSP,…), SFX will provide a link to the full text of the citation in another database. Just look for any of the following buttons  that appear alongside each reference and click on it.

Article Linker and AZ List of e-journals will be available from the Quick links section at the library home page and from the Useful links sections at the E-resources page and E-journals page.
