  Labor Markets

Labor markets are in crisis. The deep recession has had a detrimental effect on labor market conditions in most countries. A big debate is going on among economists and policy makers, many of whom attribute some of the economic problems in both advanced countries and developing countries to labor market rigidities that result from government regulations or union activities.

By contrast, other experts argue that labor markets do not always function as perfect “invisible-hand” mechanisms. Meanwhile, economic organizations contend that substantial labor market reforms are required to address countries’ economic problems. Unfortunately, the Spanish situation is particularly worrying with the country having experienced the sharpest increase in unemployment among most developed countries during the crisis.

To help you stay abreast of what is happening in the labor markets around the world, we have compiled some useful information resources available at the IESE Library.
