There is an excellent selection of country reports and profiles on Business Source Premier, including publications from the renowned Economist Intelligence Unit. These publications give you the political and economic situation in a given country, plus international relations, resources, education, population, health, transport, energy and industry data.

If you are interested in the relative competitiveness of different nations, you may find the World Competitiveness Yearbook interesting. The WCY scores countries on various factors within four broad categories - economic performance, business efficiency, government efficiency and infrastructure – and ranks countries according to their overall score.
