48th Global Alumni Reunion

This year's Global Alumni Reunion, held at New York City's Waldorf Astoria Hotel, was especially momentous, as it marked the first time the event has been held outside Europe, as well as the official launch of the IESE New York Center.

“Reframing the Future of Business” was the central theme of the full day of academic sessions, which included the participation of high-profile speakers from diverse business areas.

Afterward, while enjoying beautiful fall weather in the Big Apple, alumni and special guests took part in a full social and cultural program. Guided tours of the construction site of IESE's new center, visits to famed New York City museums and a boat ride on the Hudson River were some of the highlights.

WSJ Viewpoints

A multitude of NYC-based executives were on hand this year to observe live interviews with world-famous dealmakers at The Wall Street Journal's Executive Viewpoints Breakfast Series, sponsored by IESE and the Boston Consulting Group.

Among the Viewpoints guests in 2009 were Jeff Immelt, CEO of General Electric (February); George Soros, chairman of Soros Fund Management and the Open Society Institute (June); and Laurence Fink, CEO and Chairman of BlackRock Inc. (November).

FEBRUARY
Jeff Immelt, CEO of General Electric
“If you watch CNBC and read the newspapers every day,
as I do, it’s basically an hour of doom.”

JUNE
George Soros, Chairman of Soros Fund Management and
the Open Society Institute
“There is too much continuity between the Obama and the Bush administrations, as far as the management of the financial system.”

NOVEMBER
Laurence Fink, CEO and Chairman of BlackRock Inc.
“Money is being put to work – money is migrating to different categories; liquidity is not a problem that creates a bubble.”

Looking Forward

General Management Programs

IESE's general management programs combine academic rigor with real-life application. In 2010, four of IESE's renowned management programs will take place in the United States.

The Senior Executive Program-Miami will hold its third and fourth modules in Miami. The program comprises four 1-week modules and features world-class faculty from IESE, IPADE and IAE.

The Global CEO Program for Latin America will host its second module in Philadelphia. The program includes three 1-week modules on three different continents and fuses the collective expertise of faculty from IESE, Wharton and CEIBS.

Participants of the bimonthly format of IESE's Global Executive MBA will head to Silicon Valley for the second residential module. This highly international program is aimed at professionals with around 12 years of work experience.

IESE's New York Center will provide the venue for the third module of the Program for Management Development (PMD). The PMD is designed for functional managers who wish to boost their leadership skills and broaden their knowledge of critical management issues.
