Brazil and China Shine Brighter in Latest Investor Ranking

The United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Singapore and Switzerland are the most attractive countries for venture capital and private equity, according to the “2011 Global Venture Capital and Private Equity Attractiveness Index”(http://blog.iese.edu/vcpeindex), prepared by IESE in collaboration with the CIIF and Ernst & Young. The ranking also showsthat Brazil and China are emerging as strong contenders due to their economic growth, their potential for matching up to the more developed nations, their transition into liberal markets and their wealth of natural resources. The index was drawn up by IESE professor Heinrich Liechtenstein, Alexander Groh and Karsten Lieser.

The CIIF Annual Symposium examines current affairs

On June 20, the CIIF put the finishing touches on the academic course 2010-2011 by hosting the center's annualsymposium. Professor Juan José Toribio presided over the event, and those taking part included Rolf Campos, Professor of Economics, and Pablo Fernández and Jorge Soley, Professors of Financial Administration. During the symposium, an evaluation was made of the subjects that have sparked the greatest interest over the past year, such as the savings bank situation and the enormous uphill battle to restorethe world economy in the wake of the international crisis.

José Luis Suárez, the CIIF's new Academic Director

In March, the Board of Directors approved the appointment of Prof. José Luis Suárez as academic director of the CIIF, to replace Prof. Pablo Fernández. Suárez is Professor of Financial Management and director of the CEO Global Program, designed specifically for senior management. His areas of specialization range from value creation for  stakeholders to the design and implementation of financial policies. In the course of his career, he has published numerous books and studies, and provides regular consultancy to banks and investment groups.
