Marco Tortoriello is an Associate Professor of Strategic Management at IESE Business School. His research focuses on understanding mechanisms and returns to informal network relationships defined within and across organizations.
In particular, Professor Tortoriello studies the social context of intra- and inter-organizational ties focusing on social networks, knowledge management, innovativeness, and performance.
Professor Tortoriello received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Industrial Administration from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Academy of Management Review and Organization Science. His recent research has appeared in such journals as the Academy of Management Journal, the Annals of the Academy of Management, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Organization Studies, and European Management Journal among others.
At IESE Business School Professor Tortoriello teaches/has taught the core Competitive Strategy course at the MBA, Executive MBA, and Global Executive MBA level. In addition to that, he routinely teaches modules on social networks, organizational change, and strategy implementation in several in-company executive education programs.
As part of his professional activities Professor Tortoriello has conducted research and consulting projects for large multinational companies such as Alcoa and STMicrolectronics
