John Carlin

John Carlin

John Carlin is a journalist and author, who deals with both sports and politics. His book Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game that Made a Nation, about former South African president Nelson Mandela and the 1995 Rugby World Cup, is the basis for the 2009 film Invictus. He has also written other books such as Heroica Tierra Cruel, White Angels, Playing the Enemy/Invictus, Rafa Nadal (authorised memoirs), and La Tribu. His latest book, Knowing Mandela: a personal portrait is now out for release in the US.

Derrick Chambers

Derrick Chambers

Derrick studied at the University of Florida where he was captain of the football team for two consecutive years. He played in the National Football League (NFL) for 3 years with the Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars. After his time in the NFL, Derrick studied at the University of Oxford in England. There he wrote in politics, philosophy, and history. Derrick then went on to study at Princeton Seminary where he served as a Princeton Academic-Athletic fellow at Princeton. The academic-athletic fellows are made up of faculty and administrators who mentor student athletes at Princeton. As a member of the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA), Derrick is focused on financial literacy and advisory services for professional athletes and entertainers. Derrick is a Board member of the Youth Leadership foundation of Washington, D.C.

Tracy Dolgin, a 25-year media veteran, joined the YES Network (Yankees Entertainment and Sports Network) as President and CEO in September 2004. He is responsible for all aspects of the company. The YES Network, the #1 regional sports network in the country by any measure, is the exclusive television home of the 27-time World Champion New York Yankees and the Brooklyn Nets.

Valentin Fuster

Dr. Fuster serves The Mount Sinai Hospital as Director of Mount Sinai Heart, the Zena and Michael A. Wiener Cardiovascular Institute and the Marie-Josée and Henry R. Kravis Center for Cardiovascular Health. He is the Richard Gorlin, MD/Heart Research Foundation Professor, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Fuster was the President of Science and is now the General Director of the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares Carlos III (CNIC) in Madrid, Spain.

  
Pau Gasol

Pau Gasol

Pau Gasol is a professional athlete from Barcelona, Spain. He has been an NBA player for 13 seasons, and amongst his achievements there are 2 NBA Championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, first European player recieving the Rookie of the Year award, one World Championship with the Spanish National team in Japan in 2006, and 2 Gold medals in European Championships. As a leader in the teams he has played for, Pau has a very valuable vision about team work and about ways to improve on team work, and leadership. He, off the court, has a long lasting relationship with UNICEF and has been an Ambassador for them for 10 years. He also has commitments with other organizations like St. Jude Childrens Hospital, in Memphis, TN; CHLA in Los Angeles, CA. MySafe:LA, the kids training program from LAFD, and Sant Joan de Deu, a children’s hospital in Barcelona, his city. He is also Director and Board Member of the Gasol Foundation.

Max Goldstein is a Sports Partnerships Manager at Google where he works with athletes, teams, leagues & media partners to develop digital strategies. Prior to his current role, he created and led Google’s Community Partnerships Program, a one-year post-graduate fellowship designed to develop the next generation of non-technical Googlers.

With more than 25 years of Sports Marketing experience, Roger Huguet has been involved with the main soccer properties in the Americas, like Copa America, Gold Cup and advising most of the soccer Federations in the region. Roger was also the leading executive in the launch of the first soccer only channel in United States, Goal TV and lately with the new International Sports launch of beIN Sports. Imagina distributes worldwide television rights of Spanish La Liga.

 
Joan Oliver

Joan Oliver

Joan Oliver is from Barcelona and while studying History and Economics in Universitat de Barcelona, worked free-lance in the Publishing industry. In 1978 he joined Banco Urquijo as a financial analyst. In 1980 “Oliver” created and led a subsidiary of the bank, Gesdata, which developed the very first European database of stock market information. In 1983, he founded his own company, Enfony S.A., to supply financial information through the net. Three years later, the company became the Spanish partner of Financial Times Electronic Publishing. It was too early for this kind of services and the company failed and was sold in 1992. In November 1992 he started “Bon Dia Catalunya” a morning TV show at TV3, the main Catalan television. From 1994 he was the anchorman and director of the program that was audience leader for 8 consecutive years. Between 2002 and 2004 he was TV3’s CEO. The station was during all this period the most viewed in its territory. From 1995 to 2008 he published a daily column in the newspaper “Avui” and was a regular contributor to other publications and radio and TV shows. In 2004 he started to work with Futbol Club Barcelona. He was in charge of selling the club’s TV rights and designing the international strategy of the club. Between 2006 and 2008 he was based in New York City. In 2008 he was named Futbol Club Barcelona’s CEO. He stepped down in June 30th 2010, after a new administration took over. Throughout the two seasons during which he managed the club, FC Barcelona (“Barça”) became the first team ever to win six cups in a row. The Spanish national team that won the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 Euro Cup was mainly integrated by Barça players and adopted the Barça style. In 2011-2012 he founded Core Store SL in Barcelona, CS Sport Brands in New York and csigroup Limited in Hong Kong. The development of soccer in China and USA is the main focus of these companies.

Alexandra Panayotou

Alexandra Panayotou is an outstanding ultra endurance athlete, and is an example that it’s never too late to start something new. She began running at the age of 30, and within four years of self-training had reached championship level. In 2004, she came 2nd in the Barcelona Marathon and 4th in the Greek championships. After winning most of her races, she turned to ultra endurance running, specializing in solo challenges that are always undertaken for either a sporting or other charitable cause.

He serves as Chairman of Premier Partnerships, a firm specializing in maximizing revenues for sports teams, leagues, and venues, and public facilities. Rothenberg spearheaded soccer’s rise in the U.S. during the 1990’s as Chairman and CEO of the 1994 World Cup Organizing Committee, Chairman of the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup Games, President of the U.S. Soccer Federation, and founder of Major League Soccer.

Lewis H. Sherr is the Chief Revenue Officer for the USTA. In this role, he is responsible for commercial operations and business development for the USTA, the US Open, the Emirates Airline US Open Series, community-based programs and all associated USTA properties. Sherr oversees the Corporate Partnerships, Ticketing, Licensing and Hospitality departments. He works out of the association’s national headquarters in White Plains, N.Y.

Bill Squadron has been an executive, government official and attorney in the telecommunications, sports and media fields for more than 25 years.  Since 2009 he has served as the President of Bloomberg Sports, which takes the technology developed by Bloomberg L.P., the leading global provider in financial data and analytics, and applies it to the vast data analysis opportunities in sports. Working with MLB.com, the Bloomberg Sports Professional service is now used by 25 of the 30 Major League teams, as well as teams across Japan and Latin America. Mr. Squadron recently spearheaded Bloomberg Sports’ expansion into predictive analytics, with a focus on the soccer market throughout Europe and Asia. Bloomberg Sports was named in 2014 by SportsPro Magazine as one of the top 50 Companies Shaping Sports globally, and by Fast Company Magazine as one of the “Most Innovative Companies in Sports” in 2011.
