In a world which moves at a relentless pace, it seemed a natural response to the evident <strong>shortcomings of the cascade model <\/strong>commonly used in projects. This model is based on a sequential flow (development, implementation, adjustments, sign-off) and is hierarchical in nature, frequently involving costly changes. It offers myriad integrated responses to the many different <strong>needs of clients.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>foundations of the agile method <\/strong>were built through Agile Alliance, which can be summed up in these four simple concepts, and compared against the traditional method as follow:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Individuals and interactions <\/strong><span class=\"subrat\">vs.<\/span> processes and tools<\/li>\n<li><strong>Functioning software<\/strong> <span class=\"subrat\">vs.<\/span> technical documents<\/li>\n<li><strong>Collaboration with the client<\/strong> <span class=\"subrat\">vs.<\/span> contractual negotiation<\/li>\n<li><strong>Response to change<\/strong> <span class=\"subrat\">vs.<\/span> following a plan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Whilst high-tech companies, telecommunications firms, the financial services industry, the media and the training sector are the major pioneers in the shift towards agile methodology, it is widely applicable and can be <strong>adapted to any sector<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div><style>#thegem-divider-6a2d73cb32755 {margin-top: 70px !important;}<\/style><div id=\"thegem-divider-6a2d73cb32755\" class=\"gem-divider  \" style=\"\" ><\/div>[vc_column_text css_animation=&#8221;bottom-to-top&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>3 characteristics of agile companies<\/h2>\n<p>You might ask yourself: \u201cIs it possible to make my company more agile?\u201d Agile philosophy can be applied to many organizations. As a leader, you can <strong>promote agility in your company <\/strong>or department by following these key principles:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong><span class=\"subrat\">1.<\/span> Small, independently functioning teams<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The first premise is the formation of small work units that function on their own and have a <em>high degree of interaction<\/em>. They must be cross-functional and above all receive client <em>feedback<\/em> continuously.
