El profesor Martin Jacob es Profesor Ordinario de Contabilidad y Control en IESE Business School. Anteriormente, ocupó la cátedra dotada por adidas de Finanzas, Contabilidad y Fiscalidad en WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management desde 2019 y ha sido catedrático de Fiscalidad Empresarial desde 2013. Obtuvo su doctorado en la Universidad de Tübingen (Alemania), en 2010. Fue profesor visitante en University of Chicago Booth School of Business, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, y el Uppsala Center for Fiscal Studies en Suecia. Desde 2021, es miembro del Consejo Científico Asesor del Ministerio de Hacienda alemán.

Su investigación se centra en los efectos económicos de la fiscalidad sobre las decisiones empresariales. Su investigación abarca los impuestos de sociedades y sobre la renta, pero también los impuestos sobre las emisiones y sus efectos sobre las inversiones, la sostenibilidad y el medio ambiente.

El profesor Jacob ha publicado en varias revistas internacionales de primer orden, como el Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Review of Financial Studies, Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Management Science, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis y Contemporary Accounting Research. Es editor de The Accounting Review desde 2023. Además, fue editor asociado del European Accounting Review y Accounting & Business Research de 2016 a 2022. En 2022, la revista Wirtschaftswoche lo calificó como el mejor investigador en administración de empresas menor de 40 años en los países de habla alemana.
