Organizing to Create Value

Prof. Marta Elvira talks to Marina Gorbis at the World Business Forum

One of the most profound trends set to impact society is the way in which people organize to create value, explains Marina Gorbis, executive director of the Institute for the Future, a Silicon Valley-based consulting organization.

In this interview with IESE Prof. Marta Elvira, she explains how, over the last 40 years, we have shifted from centralized to highly decentralized and distributed modes of communication. This change will have a fundamental impact on all aspects of society, including education, health, energy and business. One of the ramifications is that increasingly people will be able to create value outside institutional structures, a phenomenon that has already been unfolding in Silicon Valley, Europe and other places of the world.
