Tectonic Shifts

24/10/2012

The 27th IESE Automotive Industry Meeting continues the tradition of providing a premier platform for senior automotive executives, leading academic thinkers and industry experts to exchange ideas that will help shape future of the "industry of industries.

This year’s theme "Tectonic Shifts" provides a framework for discussing the implications of ongoing transformations in the global automotive industry. As stated in Wikipedia, "Plate tectonics is a scientific theory that describes the large-scale motions of Earth’s lithosphere. The theory builds on the concepts of continental drift, developed during the first decades of the 20th century." For the automotive industry, the growth of the emerging economies as well as the growing importance of the electric power-train is the driving force of the industry’s "plate tectonics."
