Prof. Vilà holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
He worked as a research fellow at the Reginald Jones Center for Management Policy, Strategy and Organization of the Wharton School, as well as as research associate in the Management and Technology Program of the Wharton School.
Prof. Vilà research focuses on how to make management innovation robust and sustainable.
He works regularly with a number of national and international companies as instructor in executive education programs and consultant on issues related to: implementing management innovation, with a particular focus on strategy and organizing for innovation as well as an integrative approach to building a culture of innovation; organizational innovation, with a focus on managerial solutions to foster flexibility and speed in modern corporations; and renewal of the strategy formulation systems, with a focus on developing strategic thinking capabilities among middle managers. He has served as a consultant in more than fifty national and international corporations, including Roche Diagnostics, Amgen, Telefónica, Sandvick, Komatzu, Nutrexpa, Uniland, APLI, MTG, Henkel, Nestlé, AUSA, Chupa Chups and InterSport. He serves as Innovation Director in the board of some national companies in Spain.
Prof. Vilà has published in the areas of innovation, strategy making and organizational renewal. His current research focuses on two topics: how to nurture a culture of innovation, and how to improve innovation competencies by linking strategic thinking, creativity among middle managers and managerial action.
