Research That Makes a Difference: IESE Professors Recognized for Investigative Excellence


IESE's 2010 Research Excellence Awards were presented to faculty members Domènec Melé, Fernando Pereira, Víctor Martínez de Albéniz and José Antonio Segarra during the Alumni Association Executive Committee's annual meeting this week.

Melé and Pereira earned awards for the best books with global and managerial impact published during the year. Melé was recognized for his work, "Business Ethics in Action: Seeking Human Excellence in Organizations," and Pereira for "Contabilidad para Dirección" (Accounting for Management).

Martínez de Albéniz, author of "Competition in the Supply Option Market," which was published in Operations Research, was awarded for the best academic article in a top-level international journal.

Segarra received an award for his course, "Dirección de la Pequeña y Mediana Empresa" (Management of Small and Medium-Sized Companies).

2009-2010 Annual Report

During the meeting, IESE Alumni Association President Antonio González-Adalid presented the annual report for 2009-2010, which features key data on the association's activities during the year. Highlights included:

  • 205 Continuous Education sessions held
  • 80 sessions held in 34 major cities around the globe (outside of Spain)
  • A total of 24,000 attendees at sessions
  • 1,500 new Alumni Association members
  • A new record for number of members (13,000)
Also providing remarks was Alumni Division Director Mireia Rius, who discussed the many projects in the works for 2010-2011. They included further strengthening of the Continuous Education program, increasing participation through online sessions and new technological advances, promoting the SUCCEED career management platform and boosting professional links among members.
